Vehicle Registration

How To Register Your Vehicle?

First-time Registration of your Vehicle

If you buy a car that was last registered in Alberta, (not a brand new car), bring the following documents:

  • the Bill of Sale (filled and signed by the seller and you as a buyer) we also have Bill of Sale Form in the office free of charge)
  • Lease documents, (if applicable)
  • your proof of insurance (pink slip) and your identification. Generally, your Driver’s Licence will be sufficient identification to prove that you are the person on the Bill of Sale.

The cost will be pro-rated to correspond with your expiry date.

If we find that the vehicle was previously “written-off” or “salvage” by an insurance company and has that status on the system, you’ll need to have it inspected by an authorized mechanic before registration can be completed.

Clients have the option to purchase a CARPROOF report to find out in depth details of your vehicle prior to registration.  You can come into our Registry office to purchase this product.

New Vehicle Registration

If you are registering a brand-new vehicle that has never been registered before you must bring these documents:

  • New Vehicle Information Statement (NVIS) (The auto dealership will provide you with the NVIS when you buy a new car. In this case a fax is not acceptable. You must bring in the original document which).
  • the Bill of Sale (filled and signed by the seller and you as a buyer)
  • Lease documents, (if applicable)
  • your proof of insurance (pink slip) and your identification. Generally, your Driver’s Licence will be sufficient identification to prove that you are the person on the Bill of Sale.
